U15 Player Development Pathway

Thunder Bay Minor Hockey  will be following the Hockey Canada U15 Player Pathway development program this season.

In the next few weeks, we will be posting our pathway and evaluation schedules for the coming fall sessions.  This article will provide the premise and what the pathway is and how we are applying the program.

We will be holding 3 U15 Pathway skates by groups that your player has been assigned to. Due to ice availability we will be only offering the 3 skates and not the suggested 4 sessions outlined in the Pathway document. For ease of scheduling the pathway groups will be the same groups used later in the month for the U15 player evaluations for U15AA and U15A.  This will be shown on the schedule once released.

Important Notes on the Three Pathway Skates.  Each registered U15 aged player will have 3 pre-evaluation skates before any coach will be able to evaluate them.  There will be no coaches on site for the pathway skates except for the ones operating the pathway skates on ice activities.  These skates are for player development and will utilize the  Hockey Canada practice plans specially made for the skate sessions.  Your player can choose to attend or not they are not mandatory, however we strongly recommend your player participate in the sessions.

As a result we will not be offering our body checking clinic as there will be a checking component within one of the three pathway sessions offered.

See the PDFs for more details regarding the U15 Pathway.
